1   Saalbach

Fantastic all round resort for skiers, boarders and après skiers.
Snow range: 1003m – 2096m

Location

Saalbach is in the Austrian Alps, about 3 hours drive from the International Hub of Munich Airport or a 1.3 hours drive from the city of Salzburg. Nestled at the end of a valley lies Saalbach-Hinterglemm, one of the most famous ski destinations in Austria! The attractive villages of Saalbach and Hinterglemm, about 4km apart, are set at the base of 2 mountains and boast a well-connected network of lifts offering a range of slopes for all levels of skiers enabling you to ski from one picturesque village to another with ease.

Overview

Lively and traditional style village – Saalbach and next door Hinterglemm have one of Austria’s biggest ski areas, with some of the finest intermediate pistes you’ll find anywhere. The ski slopes are varied and located on both sides of the Glemm Valley linked by an efficient and modern lift system, so you can easily do a complete circuit of what the resort famously calls its ‘ski circus’ in a day.

At one end is the main resort of Saalbach, a traditional Austrian village with
modern buildings huddled around a classic onion-domed church. Saalbach is more cosmopolitan with a vibrant atmosphere and lively Alpine charm.

Wedged into a narrow valley, Saalbach is more convenient than most Austrian villages, with pistes coming right down into the village offering excellent access to the slopes, with the village centre being virtually traffic free.  At the end of the valley is the smaller, more relaxed and quaint village of Hinterglemm. The ski area is also linked to Leogang, a detour from the main circuit but with long fantastic slopes straight down into the trees.
